Parliament chart

Every seat of an assembly as one dot, arranged in a half-circle like the chamber and grouped by party, with the majority threshold drawn in.

Every seat in the Bundestag as a dot, grouped by parliamentary group.

Use it when

  • The composition of a parliament, council or board
  • Asking who can form a majority
  • Wholes made of real, countable seats

Avoid it when

  • Comparing two groups of similar size precisely: use a bar chart
  • The whole is not made of discrete seats
  • Chambers of very different sizes compared by raw counts

Display modes

Default
Every seat in the Bundestag as a dot, grouped by parliamentary group.
Annotated
Draws the majority line (316 of 630) and tests coalitions against it: the chart answers “who can govern?”.
Comparative
The 2021 and 2026 parliaments side by side, compared as shares of seats, because the chamber shrank from 735 to 630 seats and raw counts would mix the two changes.
