Storytelling with Data
Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic and team
A blog, podcast and books on communicating with data, known for before and after makeovers of business charts.
What you will find
- Before and after makeovers of everyday business charts
- Monthly challenges where readers remake a chart
- A podcast and articles on presenting data to an audience
What we can learn from it
- 01Declutter: remove whatever does not help the point
- 02Use colour sparingly, to send the eye where the insight is
- 03Say the takeaway in words, in the title
Chart types you will meet there
Bar chart
Horizontal bars compare a measure across categories, with room for long category names.
Line chart
Shows how a measure changes across an ordered, continuous axis, usually time.
Slope chart
Connects each item’s value at two points in time, so direction and size of change read at a glance.
